SEO Article Writing — 10 Steps Guide for Faster Article Writing

Do you groan whenever you’re asked to write an article ASAP? Does it give you nightmares if you don’t know what to say and how? Well, here are some proven methods that can not only make you write better but faster too.

Find a comfortable spot: To write, you need to be seated in a comfortable and quiet spot of your house or office. And, it helps if you dress comfortably too. This will help you focus better on your writing and do good work.

Minimize distractions: Much depends on where you live—near a railway track, airport, or a busy market. And, if you are a parent with small kids, there’s noise at home too to deal with. However, you could work while your kids are at school or day care or after dinner. If you don’t have any distractions, you will write quicker. Plus, it will negate the possibility of you developing writer’s block.

Plan your work by making outlines: As a prelude to writing, it makes sense for you to make outlines of your books or articles before you actually begin writing. The advantage of this is that it gives your article or book a focus—you know what you’re writing and how to go about it. This will give a natural and quick flow to your writing so you don’t stop and wonder what to say next. Therefore, this is time-saving.

Spend time on research: When researching a topic, you need to judge how much research material you need and how time you will devote to getting it. You can draw this balance by:

a) Planning: You’re sure to access Google or any other search engine for material, but before that, it’s well worth your making a list of questions you ought to answer.

b) Clip articles: Clip or collect all useful information. At this point, just put all your relevant material together, don’t spend time reading it. Clip all material using Evernote or Google Notebook, or use a text file. By doing this, willy-nilly you will clip the source URL which you can cite in your writings.

c) Distilling: Highlight only that information from your research that you are going to use. If you do this, you cut through the clutter and come to the bone, as it were. Use a highlighter pen or highlight in bold type or use color, if online.

Make your first draft: By now, you have at hand both your usable research and your outline which will give you a full-fledged article. You might have to fill in updated figures later, but this is enough to start writing with. Now write and don’t stop until you’ve finished it entirely.

Time: Write without worrying about timelines or you will make mistakes which will result in investing more time in your writing project making corrections. Instead, focus on your work and you will do it faster and perhaps error-proof too!

Type fast: Do you type fast—about 50 words per minute? If not, take classes. Once you begin to type faster, you will save a lot of time putting an article or book together.
